World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive season.

The 27-year-old won four tournament victories – the most on tour – including successfully defending the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Year of Dominance

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine finals, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the whole season as the world number one, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Statistics

Sabalenka ended the season with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and collected a record eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.

She received nearly eighty percent of the votes cast by global tennis journalists.

Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a new level".

Additional WTA Award Honorees

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, received the award after taking a extended hiatus following the arrival of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport at the start of this year.
• Rookie of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko picked up the award after starting the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and soaring to world number 18.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after winning their second career Grand Slam title together.
• Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after reaching five championship matches.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz took home three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
