British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Tragic Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, representatives confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge follows the boxing community had expressed sympathy for the star in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
